What is Lido Finance?

Lido Finance is the best-known liquid staking protocol: users deposit ETH, the protocol distributes that stake across a curated set of professional node operators, and depositors receive stETH — a receipt token whose balance tracks staking rewards and that can be moved, traded or used as collateral while the underlying ETH stays staked. Wrapped stETH (wstETH) offers the same claim in a fixed-balance form that DeFi contracts handle more predictably.

This site is an independent educational resource. It is not affiliated with Lido Finance and does not offer financial advice — instead it explains the mechanics that apply to Lido Finance and every other liquid staking protocol: where the yield comes from, what commission and slashing take away, how the withdrawal queue behaves under stress, and why a receipt token can trade below the asset it represents.
